My girl loves taking part in all the Den activities, and Team Jak has helped our family in more ways than they will ever know. Jak’s Den at Livingston is our family’s safety net. They still provide us with so many activities that allow us to meet old and new families to share our experiences and just be there for one another. The den is always a very safe and welcoming place with lots of activities to suit all children. The Den has provided us with a safe space to make so many happy memories as well as the chance to connect with other families. Your love and support from the very start of A’s cancer journey has given our family the strength to get through some really dark days.
Jak’s Lasting Legacy ★
Jak Trueman was a normal happy healthy teenager until August 2014, when he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. They brought us in and showed us other bereaved parents who then became our road map for surviving this. Team Jak’s practical support is flexible, personal, and available at home, hospital, or from our Jak’s Dens. We provide hands-on help to ease everyday pressures — from travel grants, help with schoolwork and tutoring to household tasks and family logistics. Join us at a welcoming Jak’s Den, for family outing, or at a themed event. We are a registered charity and we are here for children and young people aged 0-25, their families and friends.
Much needed time out
Together Jak’s Dens now provide emotional, social and practical support to children and their families from across Very Well Scotland, delivering a wide range of activities. Five years on, Jak’s Den is thriving and offers emotional, social and practical support to hundreds of children and young people age 0-25 with cancer and related illnesses from all over Scotland. He wanted his legacy to be somewhere special for children and young people with cancer and related illnesses to join together.
